Your Expedition through the Untamed Slovak Wilderness

Your Slovak Paradise hiking adventure begins at the Čingov campsite area. We will complete the opening part through Prielom Hornádu and the peaceful valley of Biely potok. The fresh green forest and the sound of water will set the mood for what is to come. Before us, the entrance to the Kysel gorge opens—a place where no human foot stepped for decades.

Before entering the gorge, we will put on our equipment and helmets and secure ourselves to the steel cable—our guided tour can begin. For the next two hours, we will immerse ourselves in a deep canyon full of cascades. We will overcome rock steps and waterfalls using iron steps while admiring the untamed wilderness.

After conquering the gorge, we will head to Kláštorisko, where we will take a short break and process the strong impressions from Via ferrata Kysel. Finally, a return trip along a forest path and meadows back to Čingov awaits us, where our journey together ends.

Via Ferrata Kysel: What to Prepare for and What to Pack

A guided tour in the Kysel gorge is a one-way trip up, where climbing equipment is a necessity. The entire route is secured with a steel cable, which serves for your safety. During the whole passage, you must be constantly clipped in using a harness and carabiners – safety comes first here.

For better comfort and palm protection while holding the steel cable, we recommend using gloves, either for hand protection or for a better grip on the cable. Since this is a physically demanding activity, do not forget to pack enough fluids and a small snack (fruit or a bar) in your backpack for a quick energy boost.

Via ferrata Kysel brings challenges that will test your strength. You will intensely use your arms, and especially after rain, the limestone rocks become slippery, which increases the climbing difficulty. However, do not worry – your guide will lead you safely through the technical sections, advise you on where to step, and make sure you handle this challenge with a smile.
