Go on a journey through thick forests, wide riverbeds, and narrow gorges where you can touch the rock walls with both hands. Prepare for metal steps hanging above the stream, footbridges, and steep ladders that will give you a good dose of adrenaline. This hiking tour will show you Slovak Paradise in its true form – wild, natural, and simply fascinating.

Why go to the Suchá Belá gorge with us?

  • Worry-free logistics: Forget about morning stress, buying tickets, and full parking lots. We will pick you up directly at your accommodation, drive you to the national park, and bring you back after the hike. The entrance fee is automatically included in the price, so your only task is to tie your shoelaces tight and start walking!
  • Safety in demanding terrain: Suchá Belá is one of the more technically difficult routes. Our guide will safely lead you through the steepest parts, show you where to step, which places to avoid, and give you confidence where you might lose it on your own.
  • Stories that GPS won’t tell you: This gorge is not just rocks and water, but a complex ecosystem. You will learn what this wilderness looked like without tourist paths and get to know the rich plants and animals. Of course, we will also show you the best places for photos.
  • Pace adapted to you: Enjoy this hiking tour without rushing or reading maps. With our guide, you will have enough time for photos, breaks, and a relaxed return trip.

A unique loop through a gorge that will take your breath away

Are you ready for an approximately 4-hour hiking adventure during which you will see the most beautiful corners of Slovak Paradise?

Our journey starts at the Podlesok tourist center, and the first half hour is ideal for a gradual warm-up. We will walk through the stream bed, jump over stones, and test our steady footing on wooden footbridges. All this even before the gorge starts to close in behind us.

After approximately 30 minutes, we will arrive at the most photogenic place on the whole route – the Misové Waterfalls. From this point, various technical challenges await us in the form of ladders, metal steps, and chains. Your reward will be views of rock overhangs, wild vegetation, and you will find yourself just within reach of the rushing water of other waterfalls.

Fun Fact

In the narrowest parts of the gorge, there are places where not a single ray of sun falls during the entire year. Therefore, the temperature here tends to be lower by up to 5 °C compared to the surroundings. So, do not forget to pack a warmer sweatshirt in your backpack.

A relaxed return through the forest

After exiting the gorge, we will find ourselves at the Pod Vtáčím hrbom crossroads, where the biggest adventure ends and it is time for a well-deserved snack. A pleasant descent along a quiet forest path follows, during which you can peacefully reflect on your experiences.

We will finish our hike at the place where we started in the morning – at the Podlesok center. After a hike of several hours, it is time for a well-deserved reward in the form of good food. Whether it is traditional bryndzové halušky or another specialty, a proper lunch in one of the local restaurants is the best ending to a successful day. On the way back to your accommodation, a full stomach and a head full of experiences will accompany you.

Before you set off…

To enjoy the hike through the Suchá Belá gorge in Slovak Paradise National Park fully and without worries, the following items should not be missing from your gear.

  • Good footwear: Since the gorge is mostly wet, you must be very careful during the hike. Sturdy hiking boots are a necessity for walking on slippery rocks and ladders. Keep sneakers with smooth soles for the trip home.
  • Layered clothing: It tends to be noticeably colder in the Suchá Belá gorge than in the surrounding area. Do not be fooled by high temperatures in the Podlesok center and take an extra sweatshirt or light jacket with you.
  • Free hands: You will need both hands free on exposed sections. Therefore, store all items safely in a backpack so that nothing gets in your way.
  • Refreshment and snack: Besides water, pack a small snack (nuts, protein bar, fruit…). A small refreshment will come in handy after the demanding hike through the Suchá Belá gorge.

Keep in mind that the ladders and metal steps you will cross in the gorge are high and steep. Exposed sections require sure-footedness and at least average hiking experience.

If you have a fear of heights or poor physical condition, consult with us in advance. Also, keep in mind that this type of hike is not suitable for small children, and we highly recommend against carrying them on your back in child carriers!
